How to be a good wait staff
These days, customer service is getting more important comparing to the past. It means that the attitude of wait staffs became playing a bigger role. According to how excellent they provide services to customers, people can evaluate the quality of restaurants. In other words, wait staffs’ services are responsible for a great part of giving positive images. The owner of restaurant must train their staffs so that they form well-arranged atmosphere of restaurant. The wait staffs have to be taught some basic tip and manner for customers.
First, they should greet and pay polite attention to customers. Even if something wrong happened at the back of house, wait staffs have to maintain smiling face and feign calmness. Second, they have to know all items of menu list so that they could memorize easily and it will prevent them from making an order mistakes. Also, they should do one thing at a time. It means when you are trying to do several things at once, some mistakes could happen in wrong. In order to finish order completely, you have to focus on your customer and do quickly just one task. Third, wait staffs should concentrate on customers’ face of their table. Through doing like that, wait staffs can recognize whether customer need something or not. It will be helpful for them to make a nice server and get positive image to restaurant. Next, wait staffs should not assume that the diner finished. It makes them cause a kind of rude mistakes. Including me, when wait staffs ask if my dinner is finished or not, I feel like that server is too mean to stand until finishing the dinner. They have to learn that they make an effort to distinguish customers’ needs from their faces.
Conclusively, if you follow all these steps, at least you won’t make a serious mistake and get in a trouble. Most importantly, wait staffs must check back with their table all the time when they work as a server.
